In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.
A Marine stuns the crowd at a Tea Party with the fourth verse of the Star Spangled Banner.
So Much for a “Secular Nation”. The TEA PARTIERS were not stunned. They were INSPIRED!
This story is incredible. Send this touching two-minute video about World War II veterans to FIVE friends and family to remind them that every day alive in this great, free country is truly a bonus. Let’s get 50,000 views for the video by Memorial Day (May 30th) to show these living heroes, one last time, just how grateful we are for their unbelievable sacrifice. The video is a trailer to a documentary that will come out in November. The more we can show interest in the trailer (i.e. views), the more Americans will get to see the film. Time is running out: 1,000 WWII vets die every day. We are free today because of these men and women. The least we can do is watch a web video and send it to five people. Let’s get this mission done!
What has President Obama done? Visit: http://www.mcnaughtonart.comAgainst the background of a darkening sky, all of the past Presidents of the United States gather before the White House, as if to commemorate some great event. In the left hand corner of the painting sits a man. That man, with his head bowed appears distraught and hopeless as he contemplates his future. Some of the past Presidents try to console him while looking in the direction of the modern Presidents as if to say, “What have you done?” Many of these modern Presidents, seemingly oblivious to anything other than themselves, appear to be congratulating each other on their great accomplishments. In front of the man, paper trash is blowing in the wind. Crumpled dollar bills, legislative documents, and, like a whisper—the U.S. Constitution beneath the foot of Barack Obama.
Please pass this link on…amazing what the guy did w/his painting of Presidents and the message he is sending us!
Is there any plan out there that will actually REDUCE our debt? Check out the new GGW article by Colonel Don Myers titled “My Math Says It Adds To The Debt”. Please click SHARE:
Let’s start by initially stating that our President proposed a federal budget plan for 12 years that reduces the deficit by $4 trillion dollars while the House Budget Chairman, proposed a 10 year budget plan that reduces the deficit by $6 trillion dollars. To the ill informed, that sounds good since spending and the debt are being reduced. Unfortunately, that is not really what is happening.
The proposed spending for the foreseeable future shows that the annual deficit will be about one trillion dollars a year. My elementary schooling tells me that if that is true then adding one trillion of debt to each year comes to ten and twelve trillion dollars of additional debt for those periods. If we consider the two proposals, then the national debt will increase by either four or eight trillion dollars depending on which figures are used. I realize that when one deals in trillions of dollars that a billion here or there may be lost. In some cases a trillion here or there may be lost in the computation. The point is that each proposal may reduce the annual deficit, but each one adds to the total debt. The spending may be reduced, but that spending continues to far exceed the revenues that come into the federal coffers. Each of these figures are so obscene that too many people just tune out.
The sad fact is that many citizens do not understand the difference between a deficit and a debt when it comes to the federal government. A deficit is the amount of money the government spends in one year beyond the amount of money that it takes in from all types of taxes for that year. The debt is all of the annual deficits added up to the current time. The current debt is $14.3 trillion dollars and that is the amount of debt that cannot be surpassed without an authorization by congress.
The administration wants Congress to increase the debt limit by another $2+ trillion dollars. The argument is that if it is not increased then the government will not be able to borrow money to service the interest on the debt and our credit rating will be reduced. What is not mentioned is that money is always coming into the government from various taxes throughout the year and the interest on the debt, social security, the military, and other key elements will be paid, but the government will be forced to prioritize spending and finally reduce that spending.
That is the type of pressure that must be placed on the government so that it will be forced to reduce spending. The report on unfunded federal liabilities was released on Wednesday and it reported a figure of $61 trillion dollars that the government has promised to various groups and has no money set aside to pay for it. That figure rose $5.3 trillion in 2010 alone because of additional people on social security of Medicare.
Half steps and promises are no longer acceptable as solutions to our current fiscal challenges. It is well past the time when the government drastically reduces spending and the size and intrusiveness of the government.
