How the Democrats Nearly Destroyed the Economy

How the Democrats Nearly Destroyed the Economy
About The Author:
Political analyst Mona Charen is former White House staffer who served as Nancy Reagan’s speechwriter. Her syndicated column, launched in 1987, is featured in more than 200 newspapers.

Creators Syndicate – History will be kind to me for I intend to write it. — Winston Churchill

There is history — a chronicle of human events — and then there is perceived history. So often, the two are wildly at odds.
In 1963, a popular Democratic president was assassinated by a Marxist named Oswald, who had actually defected to the Soviet Union and returned to the U.S. with a Soviet wife, was an active member of the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, and had attempted to assassinate a right-wing general named Edwin Walker earlier in the year.

Yet those who write history found these facts inconvenient. They created a different history in which the “atmosphere of hate” in the southern city of Dallas, Texas, led to the terrible political violence. In other words, it was political conservatism that led to John F. Kennedy’s assassination. This perceived history was recycled as recently as the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. ABC’s Christiane Amanpour, interviewing Jean Kennedy Smith, noted that the Kennedy assassination was “eerily relevant” and asked Kennedy to evaluate the “political atmosphere” in the country today.

Starting just a few years after the Kennedy assassination, American liberals began to consider anti-communism a kind of mental disorder. Hostility to communism was akin to racism, sexism and other character flaws. Reagan’s description of the Soviet Union as an “evil empire” cemented liberal suspicions that Reagan was a dangerous buffoon. Yet starting in 1989, when the Berlin Wall fell, liberals began to find their anti-anti-communism embarrassing. And so they created a perceived history — one in which the Cold War was a time of consensus, a time when, as former Sen. Bill Bradley put it, “We knew where we stood on foreign policy.”

More recently we’ve witnessed the creation of new historical narrative about the financial crisis of 2008. The perceived history, eagerly peddled by liberals and Democrats, is that the crash of 2008 was the result of Wall Street greed. It was unregulated capitalism that brought us to the brink of financial meltdown, the Democrats insisted. And they codified their manufactured history in a law, the Dodd-Frank Act, that completely avoided the true problem.
It’s both surprising and gratifying, therefore, to report that a great revisionist history has just been published by none other than a New York Times reporter, Gretchen Morgenson, and a financial analyst, Joshua Rosner.
In “Reckless Endangerment,” Morgenson and Rosner offer considerable censure for reckless bankers, lax rating agencies, captured regulators and unscrupulous businessmen. But the greatest responsibility for the collapse of the housing market and the near “Armageddon” of the American economy belongs to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and to the politicians who created and protected them. With a couple of prominent exceptions, the politicians were Democrats claiming to do good for the poor. Along the way, they enriched themselves and their friends, stuffed their campaign coffers, and resisted all attempts to enforce market discipline. When the inevitable collapse arrived, the entire economy suffered, but no one more than the poor.

Jim Johnson, adviser to Walter Mondale and John Kerry, amassed a personal fortune estimated at $100 million during his nine years as CEO of Fannie Mae. “Under Johnson,” Morgenson and Rosner write, “Fannie Mae led the way in encouraging loose lending practices among the banks whose loans the company bought. A Pied Piper of the financial sector, Johnson led both the private and public sectors down a path that led directly to the credit crisis of 2008.”
Fannie Mae lied about its profits, intimidated adversaries, bought off members of Congress with lavish contributions, hired (and thereby co-opted) academics, purchased political ads (through its foundation) and stacked congressional hearings with friendly bankers, community activists and advocacy groups (including ACORN). Fannie Mae also hired the friends and relations of key members of Congress (including Rep. Barney Frank’s partner).

“Reckless Endangerment” includes the Clinton administration’s contribution to the home-ownership catastrophe. Clinton had claimed that dramatically increasing homeownership would boost the economy, instead “in just a few short years, all of the venerable rules governing the relationship between borrower and lender went out the window, starting with … the requirement that a borrower put down a substantial amount of cash in a property, verify his income, and demonstrate an ability to service his debts.”

“Reckless Endangerment” utterly deflates the perceived history of the 2008 crash. Yes, there was greed — when is there not? But it was government distortions of markets — not “unregulated capitalism” — that led the economy to disaster.

THINK THIS GUY HAS IT ALL COVERED

Published by admin under liberals

I Am the Democratic, Republican Liberal-Progressive’s Worst Nightmare.
I am a White, Conservative, Tax-Paying, American Veteran, Gun Owning Biker. That’s me!
I am a Master Mason. I work hard and long hours with my hands to earn a living.

I believe in God and the freedom of religion, but I don’t push it on others.
I ride Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and drive American-made cars, and I believe in
American products and buy them whenever I can.

I believe the money I make belongs to me and not some liberal governmental functionary,
Democratic or Republican, that wants to share it with others who don’t work!

I’m in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!

I think owning a gun doesn’t make you a killer; it makes you a smart American.

I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to
anything. Get over it!

I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac or any other item, you should do it in English.

I believe there should be no other language option..

I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.

My heroes are Malcolm Forbes, Bill Gates, John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and Willie G. Davidson, who makes the awesome Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

I don’t hate the rich. I don’t pity the poor.

I know wrestling is fake and I don’t waste my time watching or arguing about it.

I’ve never owned a slave, nor was I a slave. I haven’t burned any witches or been persecuted
by the Turks, and neither have you!

I believe if you don’t like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and
change your own country!

This is AMERICA …We like it the way it is and more so the way it was …so stop trying to
change it to look like Russia or China , or some other socialist country!

If you were born here and don’t like it… you are free to move to any Socialist country that will
have you. I believe it is time to really clean house, starting with the White House, the seat
of our biggest problems.

I want to know which church is it, exactly, where the Reverend Jesse Jack son preaches,
where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution?

Can I get an AMEN on that one?

I also think the cops have the right to pull you over if you’re breaking the law, regardless of
what color you are, but not just because you happen to ride a bike.

And, no, I don’t mind having my face shown on my driver’s license. I think it’s good….
And I’m proud that ‘God’ is written on my money..

I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don’t want you deciding who
should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.

I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me
into making ‘donations’ to their cause…. Get a job and do your part to support yourself and
your family!

I believe that it doesn’t take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents…..

I believe ‘illegal’ is illegal no matter what the lawyers think!

I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA !

If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I’m a BAD American.

If you are a BAD American too, please forward this to everyone you know….

We want our country back!

My Country….. I hope this offends all illegal aliens.

My great, great, great, great grandfather watched and bled as his friends died in the Revolution
& the War of 1812.
My great, great, great grandfather watched as his friends died in the Mexican American War.
My great, great grandfather watched as his friends & brothers died in the Civil War.
My great grandfather watched as his friends died in the Spanish-American War.
My grandfather watched as his friends died in WW I.
My father watched as his friends died in WW II.

I watched as my friends died in Vietnam , Panama & Desert Storm.
My son watched & bled as his friends died in Afghanistan and Iraq .
None of them died for the Mexican Flag.
Everyone died for the American flag.

Texas high school students raised a Mexican flag on a school flag pole,
other students took it down. Guess who was expelled…the students who took it down.

California high school students were sent home on Cinco de Mayo, because they wore
T-shirts with the American flag printed on them.

Enough is enough

This message needs to be viewed by every American; and every
American needs to stand up for America .

We’ve bent over to appease the America-haters long enough. I’m taking a stand.

I’m standing up because the hundreds of thousands who died fighting in wars for this country,
and for the American flag.

If you agree, stand up with me. If you disagree, please let me know. mudgie33@hotmail.com
I will gladly remove you from my e-mail list.

And shame on anyone who tries to make this a racist message.

Progressive Auto Insurance

Published by admin under liberals

Progressive Auto Insurance. You know who they are. They’re the ones with the clever television ads featuring the perky brunette actress all dressed in white. What you might not know is that the chairman of Progressive is Peter Lewis, one of the largest funders of the left in America . He’s your typical rich spoiled kid who took over the company from his father and apparently feels “guilty” for his success and now dedicates himself to making it impossible for anyone else to become wealthy.

Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most responsible for destroying what’s left of America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Indeed, Lewis is himself an ACLU member. One of the ACLU projects he earmarked his funds for was an effort to sue school districts who have drug testing policies. In other words, this idiot wants teachers to be able to use drugs without fear of exposure. I wonder what he would think if all his own employees came to work drugged out every day.

Lewis also gave $12.5 million to MoveOn.org and American Coming Together, two key components of the socialist left. The former group is perhaps the main group used by the Obama forces to organize their activists; the latter group is a 527 political action group that essentially served as a front for the SEIU union thugs who ran ACORN. His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George Soros, the international socialist who finances much of the Obama political network.

It’s disturbing that Lewis made a fortune as a result of capitalism but now finances a progressive movement that threatens to destroy the free enterprise system. He reminds me somewhat of Armand Hammer, the former head of Occidental Petroleum who did business with Joseph Stalin and became his good friend, around the same time Stalin was executing businessmen all over the USSR .

What angers me further is the way this company is targeting television shows watched by conservatives such as Fox News. Peter Lewis is making a fortune off of conservative Americans so that he can destroy our country. He’s banking on no one finding out who he is. I think it’s time we expose this clown.

The media’s approach to the news

Published by admin under liberals

A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington , DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage.

Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her
Inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.

The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.

A reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, ‘Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I’ve seen a man do in my whole life.’

The Harley rider replies, ‘Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.’

The reporter says, ‘Well, I’ll make sure this won’t go unnoticed. I’m a journalist, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page…
So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?’

The biker replies, ‘I’m a U.S. Marine and a Republican.’

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:

U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS
AFRICAN IMMIGRANT
AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

That pretty much sums up the media’s approach to the news these days

The hypocrisies by the liberals is just astounding.

Published by admin under liberals

In Wisconsin, we are seeing a revolt by the Unions, a political arm of the Democrats, truly in it’s usual form as thugs and brutality. You see nasty signs of Hitler and other demeaning slogans in reference to their current governor, Scott Walker (R). It’s just amazes me that when the Tea Party was formed 2 years ago, the pathetic liberals were calling them thugs, racists and other despicable names and accusing them of holding up signs that depicted President Obama in a not so admirable light. None of this was true, but the Democrats continued with their nasty ways like usual and of course the liberal media, is in the fry as well, with their lack of honest reporting.

Now we have “Organizing for Americans” a political arm of the Democrats and the DNC busing members into Wisconsin holding riots and disturbing a normal way of life we all enjoy in our everyday lives. They are picketing on the lawns and at homes of GOP folks and trashing their properties, just like they did during the housing meltdown. They are nothing more than a band of thugs out to destroy any reasonable compromise that should be held in a legitimate, legislative body of government, where these difference should be aired out. Democrats, in their cowardly way are all in hiding. They pulled a similar stunt in Texas and went into hiding when these piss-ants couldn’t get their way.

Now we Have President Obama getting into another local issue without understanding the total facts and commenting on the cuff. He states that what is happening in Wisconsin is nothing more than an attack on Unions. Yes Mr. President, it is truly unfortunate that you have make an opinion without the facts, like you did when you commented on the Conn. issue with a white Police Officer and your African-American professor friend..You didn’t have the facts then and now, as with other issues you got yourself into, only to come back and make amends. This makes you look not very Presidential and appear you are playing political games for your own benefit.

President Reagan showed leadership and backbone when he stood up to the Air Traffic Controllers and fired the whole bunch. President Obama in his typical response, lacks leadership and again, punts like he did with Healthcare and the current budget to other controlling entities, as if he has no command or understanding of the issues.

This will reverberate throughout the country that Unions want their benefits and you, the private sector, must pay up. This will backfire on the liberals and 2012 will be another great election cycle for the conservatives.

Yes Mr. President, let’s have this debate on whether the private sector should fund the pensions and medical benefits to the Unions. This debate I’m willing to have.

Mr. President, show some leadership and tell your Union friends to stop with the trespassing and the name calling that your party, unfounded, referred to the conservatives two years ago and is still going on. We are all Americans and we all want a strong America, but since you came into office, this nation is more polarized then anytime in America’s history since the Civil War. It has to start with you Mr.President, show some leadership like you campaigned on.

Have a good day
Varok
