government wants to take you down with it

The U.S. government wants to take you down with it
Saturday, January 29, 2011

Have you ever wondered why the State of the Union speech involves so much pomp and posing?

You don’t have to be an astute political analyst to realize the whole charade is propaganda designed to make people feel good about the government. But why bother?

Why risk embarrassing yourself on Jon Stewart’s “Daily Show” program by saying something stupid… or something that’s exactly the opposite of what you promised last year?

For example, in 2009, President Obama said, “Done right, earmarks have given legislators the opportunity to direct federal money to worthy projects that benefit people in their districts and that’s why I’ve opposed their outright elimination.”

But this week, the same president, standing in the very same room, talking to essentially the same audience, said exactly the opposite. He was grandstanding to the new political mood and scolded the assembled lawmakers. He issued a “warning” that he would veto any bill that contained so much as a single earmark.

What a phony. What a liar. Why go on national TV and prove it?

If Obama doesn’t want to, who’s going to force him? His government is the world’s only superpower, with troops in more than 100 countries. It listens to every phone call that’s dialed. It reads every e-mail that’s sent. It watches every road. It looks at every financial transaction.

Our government is so powerful, it can borrow $0.40 of every dollar it spends while demanding the rest of the world use its paper money. Its own courts are afraid of ruling against it, to the point of ignoring the plain language of its own Constitution.

So… why bother with this charade?

The most important element to a stable society is the idea (the lie, mostly) that the government is legitimate. Government is violence and coercion. Government is force. And for that force to be tolerated by millions, it must appear to be legitimate.

Any information or argument that the government is corrupt or inept is dangerous because it threatens its legitimacy. That’s why there’s such a tremendous fight over the obvious corruption between state employee unions and elected officials. That’s why no one wants to explain to the American people that our federal government is bankrupt. We’re printing money because it’s better to steal from our creditors than admit our government is inept.

And that’s why the State of the Union is such a spectacle. See The State in all its glory…

But remember this: Our State, as powerful as it is, relies on an assumption that’s made collectively by millions of Americans.

We must believe the people we saw on TV listening to the president are fundamentally good and honest people. We must never come to doubt the character of those people or the process they used to gain power.

If that happens, our State, even though it’s the most powerful in the world, could quickly collapse. It is nothing without the consent of the governed. And our consent depends entirely on its legitimacy.

I believe our government is in imminent danger of losing its legitimacy. Why?

Our federal government is bankrupt and threatening to bankrupt several generations of Americans. At some point – one that is rapidly approaching – Americans will repudiate these debts and the legitimacy of the government that incurred them.

Unaffordable foreign debts and the obvious perfidy of “quantitative easing” will soon render our currency worthless. It is a shame upon the honor of our country that we would even consider using the printing press to finance our debts… It is a high crime that we have done so. The world will long remember the way we have treated our creditors.

Over the last 50 years, the government became a socialist tool. It steals assets from responsible, hard-working citizens and distributes them to others, mainly on the basis of political patronage. At some point, these policies become self-destructive. So many people end up on the dole, the government has no way to finance their needs. We have reached that point. Today, more than half of all voters pay zero federal income taxes.

Our aggressive foreign policy has created billions of enemies overseas while propping up regimes that would disgust most Americans – like the Saudis.

Most critically… our government is for sale. As the price of influence in Washington continues to escalate, it will become impossible to deny the patently obvious truth: Government policy is awarded to the highest bidder and our “free” elections are essentially rigged by the massive sums spent on advertising for candidates.

While I look forward to the day my fellow citizens begin to see their government as it really is, I also fear that day… for it will surely mark the beginning of an “interesting” moment in history.

The leadership of the United States is pretending this day of reckoning will never occur… that Bernanke can successfully paper over these debts along with however many trillions of additional dollars are necessary. This is the absolute height of ignorance. The destruction of our currency and our country’s standing in the world’s economy is certain.

We are already at the point where our government’s debt cannot be financed at any legitimate rate of interest… And yet our leaders show zero interest in doing anything to prevent this unmitigated financial disaster.

As many of you know, I’ve produced a video about these real problems and my suggestions for dealing with them. If you haven’t watched it yet, I strongly encourage you to do so.

Regards,

Porter Stansberry

This is how my mother came to the USA

Published by admin under Remember When

This is how my mother came to the USA , by boat, not asking for anything for free, just a chance to work and be an American.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today’s American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States , people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented.

Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved goodbye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people.

When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the French American, the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country’s flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I’m sorry, that’s not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900’s deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn’t start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.
KEEP THIS LETTER MOVING. FOR THE WRONG THINGS TO PREVAIL, THE RIGHTFUL MAJORITY NEEDS TO REMAIN COMPLACENT AND QUIET. LET THIS NEVER HAPPEN!

I sincerely hope this letter gets read by millions of people all across the nation

House health care repeal more reality TV than theater

Published by admin under Obama

Calling Obamacare — government mandates, subsidies, price controls, taxes, and rationed care — “patient protection” and “affordable” is the height of dishonesty.

Democrats who are calling the House’s decisively passed repeal of Obamacare — the so-called “Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care” act — theater are hallucinating.
Perhaps it was theatrical to include in the name of the repeal act “job killing”, though that is what it is.

But I prefer melodrama to dishonesty. Calling Obamacare — government mandates, subsidies, price controls, taxes, and rationed care — “patient protection” and “affordable” is the height of dishonesty.

The House repeal vote was important because the House is the legislative body closest to the people, and the people voted unequivocally last November to repudiate socialized medicine.

It is the beginning of responsible government to start representing what the American people want and repeal is what Americans voted for.

Although repudiation of Obamacare was the most tangible message of the 2010 elections, there were other important messages.

Most Americans are sick of the socialist direction in which our great nation has been moving. They are sick of dishonesty and word games emanating from Washington and politicians. And they are sick of special interest groups in Washington sucking the oxygen out of all opportunities for good public policy.

The “Affordable Health Care” Act, besides being bad health care policy, has all the above characteristics — duplicitous Washington accounting games that pretend to save money by spending it subsidizing all the nation’s health care, taking what was already broken in the way we deliver health care — most of it already being controlled by government and third party payers — and giving us more of it rather than less, and accomplishing all this by working with the big health care special interests — insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies.

But what makes me most heartsick is to watch our great and free nation transformed into a second rate welfare state.Again, even before the “Affordable Health Care” act, our health care system was already largely taken over by government. Ninety percent of our health care bills are paid by third parties, and between Medicaid, SCHIP, and Medicare, well over half of American health care was already directly controlled by government.

What else do you have to know about what was wrong?

Yet, Obamacare’s answer was to give us more of all of it.I challenge any sitting Democrat who continues to push socialized medicine on us to move into any of our inner cities and find out first hand about life on the government plantation.Twelve percent of the nation’s population is black, but 30 percent of the 60 million on Medicaid are black.

They live under the hallucination perpetuated by Washington that they have health coverage.

Yet 40 percent of our doctors refuse Medicaid patients because they are not adequately reimbursed. And study after study shows that the health care they do get is substandard. That Medicaid patients are, for instance, far more likely to not survive an operation, compared to someone with private insurance.

Obamacare’s answer to this is to expand the income level qualifying for Medicaid and put another 20 million on it, with the same pretense about being “covered.”

At the same time, as Dennis Smith, former Director of Medicaid at HHS, points out, the new qualifying structure of Medicaid has the same characteristics as did welfare that led to wholesale breakdown of black families. An individual earning $10,800 qualifies for Medicaid. For two individuals, that is $21,600. But qualifying income for a family of two is $20, 107. So efficient incentives are built in to discourage marriage among low-income earners, a reality in all likelihood already contributing to their shaky economic status.

The House repeal of Obamacare was not theater. It was reality TV.

The follow up act must be to reform health care with real freedom and capitalism.
